The Calendar Editor

Calendar product properties

Use this function to set the year and starting month for the calendar. The calendar year comprises 12 months, starting with the month you set.

Calendar object browser

The object browser normally comprises three different tabs: "Images", "Design" and "Layout".

If needed, you can select a background for the calendar page currently displayed in the editor. You can leave the background white, or insert your own image as a background (command in the image context menu).
Predefined "Layouts" with various calendars are available; simply select a layout that matches your requirements.
You can then paste the required images into the layout on the calendar page.

Tip: Select images that match the season. Or images that match certain events. (Example: A wedding photo for your anniversary month.)

The storyboard

(This is not used for year planners as they comprise a single page.)

All calendar pages, including the cover page, are displayed as thumbnails in the storyboard for navigation purposes and to give you a better overview.

The scroll bars below the storyboard move the thumbnails right and left.
Clicking a thumbnail opens the corresponding page in the workspace.

You can change the page order by clicking the thumbnail for the page in question, holding down the left mouse button, and dragging the thumbnail to the required position in the storyboard. The month is updated in each case.

The calendar object toolbar

The object toolbar contains the most important tools or commands which you can apply to an object selected in the product editor, or which let you insert a new object.

Pay attention to the tooltips.  (Also refer to the "Object toolbar" section).

The calendar editor

You can use the calendar editor workspace to design your calendar pages and the object browser to insert images. You can create your own layout with layout frames and texts and save it under a separate name. Alternatively, you can use a layout template.
(Refer to the "Working with Layouts" section.)

Additional calendar settings

Double-click the calendar table, the year or the month in the calendar editor to open a new window with additional calendar settings.

Schemes

The changes to the calendar table are displayed in a preview.

A wide range of predefined colour schemes are provided in a selection list for choosing the colour scheme of the backgrounds, lines and texts of the calendar.

You can then select the font for all texts and numbers in the calendar page.

Finally select the font size.
As the font size of the individual text elements varies, the font size is entered as a percentage of the original font size (in steps of 10) so that all letters and numbers are scaled equally.

The background colour is provided as an aid for the preview and does not affect the calendar in the calendar editor.
It is easier, for example, to see white lettering on a transparent table background if the background of the preview is black.

If the option "For calendars of the same type" is activated (checked), the settings are applied to all calendar pages (months) in the calendar editor which have the same calendar table.

The year and the name of the month can also be changed in the same way.
If you use the same settings for the calendar table, name of the month and the year, these then all match. You can, of course, choose your own settings to suit your own taste if you prefer.

General

On the "General" tab you can set the starting month and the starting year for the calendar in the same way as in "Product settings".

On some calendars, such as kitchen and family calendars, it is also possible to insert columns into the calendar.
You can then enter the names of the members of your family at the top of the columns so that each member of the family has his or her own area for making notes and entering appointments.
Enter the title for the first column into the first line of the header, the title of the second column in the second line and so on.

Tip:

If you have activated the "public holiday" option, enter one more column for the calendar than you actually need and leave the first column without a title.
Otherwise the text of the public holiday could take up the space provided for making notes in the first column.

Entries

In some calendar tables (if there is sufficient space) it is possible to include public holidays and even school holidays.
As these often vary considerably in different countries and regions, these can be entered separately.
If your country is not listed, then the data is unfortunately not yet available.

Caution:

Always check all calendar pages (!) to make sure that the public holidays are correctly displayed.

If there is insufficient space in one box for the text of the calendar table, this text may be cut off on the left and right or it may cover the date.

In this case we recomend omitting the public holidays, or choosing a layout which has more space for the holidays.
